Hey, my name is Alec Troxell and I am one of the athletes representing the Maine Distance Project.
I have lived in Maine my whole life, growing up in Portland, attending Deering High School and then the University of Maine, where I spent 6 years competing for the track and cross country team while completing my undergraduate and graduate degree.
The Maine running community has always been a part of who I am. I’ve been racing alongside Sam and Luke since high school, and after living and training with them through college, I’m beyond excited to continue our journey with “Maine” across our chests.
It took awhile for running to really click for me. I had glimpses of success, but it wasn’t until my junior year of college where I really began to fall in love with the sport.
Now, three years later, that love has only grown stronger. Competing for something bigger than myself—surrounded by teammates, friends, family, and coaches—has meant the world to me. And representing Maine has always tied it all together.
I am excited to continue to train and compete in Maine and help to grow the running community here.
